Easy drive back to Stuart, arriving about 3 PM. Josh the painter was on board waiting for his check. Tide hiker looks fine, I really have not had a good look yet.
Tuesday January 31, 2017
Some progress on Tide Hiker. Josh completed the non-slip deck painting on Saturday. The rain started about 3 AM on Sunday and the finish was affected. It will have to be done again. The weather was so dreary on Sunday we went to the movies.
The wash/polish/wax guy started today. I have not kept up with the wash/polish/wax work very well and there will be a lot of elbow grease needed to make Tide Hiker shine again.
Kylie seems in good shape and is scheduled to deliver on Monday. We plan to drive to Charleston on Thursday.
Deidre and Bob purchased Tide Hiker on March 12, 2012 and moved on board that afternoon. Tide Hiker is a 1988 49' RPH (Raised Pilot House) trawler. She was moored in Stuart Florida where she will stay until early April when the adventures will "get on the road".

Slept in and missed the "free" breakfast. Checked out "Marina Jack's" where we plan to spend a month starting late February. Called in on all friends John and Bonny on "Bon Voyage" in the Long Boat Key marina. Bonnie referred us to other old cruising pals in Palmetto so we visited Brian (and Jackie over the phone.) Brian and Jackie have sold their boat and are currently involved in cleaning it out. Sad.
Arrived Orlando about 7 PM

We had thought about visiting one of the many "parks" but decided just to enjoy a day by the pool. In the evening we went to Universal City Walk for the "Blue Man" show. It was OK, nothing to write home about.

Sarasota, FL
Tuesday January 24, 2016
We were up at 4:45 AM and on the way to the AP by 5:30 AM MST for our 9:00 AM flight. Flying is a pain in the rear. All went well and we were in Ft. Myers by 7:00 PM EST. Picked up the car and headed for our hotel 90 miles away in Sarasota.

Anthem
Anthem
Thursday Jan 12 to Tuesday Jan 24, 2017
All pretty quiet here.
Kylie has had a few issues - spent one night in hospital but is now expected to make it until her delivery appointment on February 6. Our fingers are crossed and her knees are together.
We found the house to be in good shape, just as we left it almost 12 months ago. The HOA think that our paint is "splotchy" so we have arranged to get it painted.
Socially we have been pleasantly busy catching up with friends. I have been keeping up with my steps and not missed a single 10K day.
The weather has been "poor to horrible" with clouds, rain and unseasonably low temps. Strange for this area. There has been a huge amount of snow in the mountains.
Deidre and I went to a Trump protest on Friday, but it was pretty lame. We should have gone on Saturday when there was much more activity.
We fly back to Florida on Tuesday.

Ft. Meyers
Wednesday January 11, 2017 - Adam's 41st birthday.
W are flying to Phoenix on Thursday. Stuart does not have a decent airport, so we have to drive to an airport somewhere else. I priced flights out of West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando and Ft. Myers. Eventually I made reservations out of Ft Meyers. It is an early flight, so we decided to drive the day before and stay at a local hotel. But then got mixed up and made our hotel reservation in Orlando. Fortunately Deidre checked the reservations......
The drive across Florida and around Lake Okeechobee was only about 3 hours and we arrived mid afternoon - just in time to get a call from Kylie that she was on her way to hospital with "painful cramps" - probably a euphemism for labor pains. It is now 10 PM and we have been texting back and forwards for 7 hours! But it SEEMS she will be sent home for "no work" and "bed rest" for a few days until she settles down. So we have decided to take the flight.

Back at Loggerhead
Wednesday December 28, 2016 - January 10, 2017
The weather has been perfect since our return - most days making it into the low 80's. Cold front hit us on Friday and we had one day in the 60's with a chilly Northerly, but temps recovered into the 70's and 80's by New Years Day.
Steve Koch arrived on Friday and is quickly knocking off my job list. The Pilot House AC is working again! My new reading light is installed. The three AC pumps are now remounted on star board. The faulty bow-thruster breaker has been replaced. The port engine fuel injectors have been removed and are being reconditioned. Steve will be back Monday.
We have made a deal with a painter and he promises to start work on January 9, 2017. We have ordered a new dinghy cover and it is promised by the end of January. Deidre and I have been busy. We have completed varnishing the the fly bridge cabinetry and I am now putting it back together.
We have extended our stay at this marina another month to allow time for the projects to be completed. We are only allowed to sleep on Tide hiker 10 days a month in this marina (weird!) so we have booked flights to Phoenix to catch up with friends and check out our Anthem house (and arrange for it to be painted!) We fly out of Orlando on the 11th and return on the 24th.
Friends Barb and Don are also at this marina. We have also run into friends we met in the Bahamas, so our social life has been pretty good.
Tuesday January 3, 2017
Steve has finished his project list in record time. Today I started sanding the cap rails in anticipation of varnish tomorrow. Once the cap rails are varnished I will be heading to the ER to do a big clean up. (Boats are fun, but they are lots of work.) AmazingMail is doing OK and declared a fat dividend for 2016 so we had lunch at the Marina Club today to celebrate. Last night we went to the movies to see "Lion" - set in India and Hobart. (I was never confused where each scene was set.)
Wednesday, January 4, 2016
This morning was overcast and humid with 80% chance of rain. Too wet to varnish. The chance of rain 100 miles south in Miami was only 40% so we decided to go to Miami for the day. We were parked by 12 and headed for lunch on Lincoln Avenue. After lunch we headed to the beach with our Old people" chairs and reading material. It was overcast but comfortably warm and we read until 4:30 PM. The traffic getting out of miami was bad so we decided to stop in West pail Beach at my favorite salad restaurant and for Deidre to drop her "Brighton" watch off for repair. Home in bed by 10PM.

Another week in paradise and I am not sure where all the time went. The painters arrived Saturday to get an early start. They need decent weather and Saturday was good. Earlier in the week a cold front that had brought blizzards to Cleveland brought freezing temps to Charleston and the 50s to us in Stuart. Electric blanket time. The Fly Bridge cabinets are now varnished and installed. Deidre and I have started on the cap rails and have two coats in place.
